I am thrilled to announce that I have finished writing my next book which is entitled Defending the Defenseless: How to Become an Animal Advocate!!!!!! The manuscript was sent to the publisher on January 1, 2011 (1-1-11 … a very lucky day) and is anticipated to be printed in late summer or early fall.

I spent the past four months focusing full-time on the book and having that single focus really helped me to dive into the issue of how to mobilize more people to help companion animals. This turned out to be a lengthy book because I found so many amazing programs and different methods to help companion animals. I was not able to feature every program, but selected some of the great ones to share. In the end, 40 animal protection specialists and advocates were interviewed on topics ranging from lobbying, innovative animal sheltering, to communicating with animals. Each each chapter also provides simple how-to ideas of how to get involved.

Now I’m switching my brain cells to focus on the next book for animals, which is still in concept mode and will soon be sent to my literary agent. So stay tuned for updates!
